This one (which is one that I'm currently using for the header of this blog) is one in which I wanted to do something very simple and elegant. Ideally, I would plan to have this header on a website with a black background with white text. The text I used was Josephin Slab.
Here's my second header option. This one has hand-lettered text that would look similar to a scratch board. The lettering, while still has an overtone of the roughness of hand-lettering, it also has a somewhat elegant feel to it.
With the border, I may extend the border or have it fade after a while.
Just for reference, here's what the lettering would look like without the border. Again, lettering like this would be used for a simple black background with white text.
Here's my third option. Again, the lettering is hand-lettered. Here I just let the hand-lettering be all out rough, expressive and grungy. I also added some texture in the background and put some Victorian ornamentation on very low opacity on the sides around around the borders. This would work for a website that is designed to have kind of a vintage look, which is something I may want to consider, as well as the black and white option.
Also, I know we're just supposed to have 3 headers, but I wanted to include this one because I wanted to experiment with using type and image together.
